PDCA – Women’s Black 2017/18 Premiers!
The Sandy Creek women’s team are the 2017/18 PDCA Women’s Black premiers!
After just making the finals and then knocking off the top side (Eyre Royals) comfortably last week in the semi final, the ladies have knocked off the second side ATCO in a huge performance to take out the Grand Final.
The Sandy Creek ladies bowled first and in what can only be described as a top tier bowling and fielding performance, they skittled their opponents for 43. This included 2 run outs and 4 catches (with no chances dropped) – 1 catch to the inspirational captain Audrey Kent and 1 solid (had to stick) catch to Lara Frahm and 2 great catches to Ashleigh Chomik. The wickets went to Audrey Kent alongside young guns Maddy Lane, Piper Riggs and Courtney Perdon.
Only needing 44 off about 45 overs, the girls did it easy and finished off on 2/181. They put on a batting display with “Cleopatra” Kent retiring on 32, Shannon Chomik also retiring on 32 after batting for 28 overs as opener to make sure they got the win, with her opening partner Courtney Perdon also retiring on 32 (with an opening partnership of 71). Hard hitting Maddy Lane iced the cake by peeling off a quick fire 18.
The ladies were simply outstanding! Massive congratulations to coach Sarah-Jane Jameson, captain Audrey Kent and the team on a great win! Go the Cockettes!
