Hat-tricks trending!

Sometimes cricket clubs go years (or even decades!) without registering a hat-trick by a bowler. Sandy Creek has had three of them within half a season, one for each senior grade.

Jamie Diener kicked things off in Round 2 of the A-Grade, ripping through the middle order of South Gawler, turning their 3 for 33 into 6 for 33 in a hurry. Apparently he was very unlucky not to have 4 wickets in 4 balls, with the Cockies A-Grade ruing the lack of ball-tracker and the ability to refer howlers.

Next was C-Grade opening bowler Mitch “Iceman” Coldman, blitzing the Kapunda A3 lower order in Round 7 with three wickets off the last three balls of their innings to finish with figures of 3/23.

And finally, lethal Lee Hill decided that five hat-tricks over his illustrious career weren’t enough. Greenock didn’t know what hit them in their T20 run chase as the B-Grade skipper fondly known as Doofy proceeded to roll through them with an incredible 5 for 1 (!!!) off his 4 overs including a hat-trick for wickets 3, 4 and 5.
