Country Cup at Sandy Creek
The Barossa has become a venue of choice in recent times for junior and senior country cricket carnivals. Curdnatta Park, the picturesque home oval of Sandy Creek, is regularly a venue in the mix of hosts and always receives positive feedback about the facilities and quality of the deck.
Curator Spud Mitchell put together another beautiful pitch this year for the match between Alice Springs and Fleurieu, which was streamed live for the first time via Frogbox. Alice Springs were comfortable victors, sending five Fleurieu batsmen back to the pavilion for ducks as they fell short in their chase by 71 runs.
Unfortunately weather impacted the second game at Curdnatta Park and the match was abandoned, but not before Northern had smashed an imposing 7/262 vs the South East side.
Well done to all who helped facilitate the games at Sandy – another feather in our hosting cap. And how good did the oval look on the video stream?!
