Arise Centurion!
After a relatively quiet start to the season, some of Sandy Creek’s batsmen have gone ballistic in the second half of the year!
As at Christmas, the only player to make a hundred was Daniel “DK” Koch, with 148 against Hamley Bridge in the C-Grade.
Then Mark “Merv” Freyer decided to become a trend setter. Merv scored 125 off just 110 balls against Tanunda in the B’s on the 19th January, so Jamie Diener had to up the ante by setting a new club record for a one-day game the very next week, scoring 180 off just 121 balls against Freeling, including 1 over from Bluey McMillan that went for 30!
So then Jamie passed the baton to Andy “Grizzly” Kokot, who clubbed 106 (retired hurt) in the A’s against Mallala the very next week and Kokes handed it back to DK again, who decided he liked being in the B-Grade so much, he not only scored 124 (retired hurt) the next week against Gawler Central (who were the top team at that stage of the season), he followed it up with 148 not out in the next game against Kapunda!
So as a club, we’ve had centuries in 5 weeks of the last 6! Hopefully that sort of form continues into finals.
