Diener up with best in the world!

Australia’s 21 and under side are the world indoor cricket champions, winning the Grand Final of the Indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai by just 2 runs! And leading the way with a Man of the Match performance was none other than Sandy Creek A-Grade cricketer, Jamie Diener!

Top scoring for Australia in the Grand Final with 16 runs, Jamie backed it up with inspirational efforts with the ball and in the field. His 3 wickets for -5 runs was also the best bowling performance for Australia and helped his side sneak a victory after they looked gone for all money around the halfway mark of New Zealand’s innings. See a video of the final here.

With 132 runs, Diener was the 2nd best batsman of the tournament, with the 2nd most runs, 2nd best batting average (16.5) and 2nd highest strike rate (138.95) in the whole competition! His contribution average (batting average minus bowling average) places him 4th in the world. Not a bad effort at all for the mild mannered lad from little old Sandy Creek – congratulations Jamie!
